Hamidon still standing
30 Mar, 2005
The Easter weekend saw the first attempt on the European servers to take down Hamidon, the biggest and baddest threat facing Paragon City today.
Unfortunately, despite valiant efforts by a dedicated team of heroes with the highest Security Levels on the Defiant server, Hamidon managed to survive the assault and inflict serious casualties in return. You can read all about the raid and the strategies used on the Defiant board, and if you fancy a peek at the creature himself, there are plenty of screenshots and even a video available.
Good luck next time!

For those of you coming in late, let us fill you in: NCsoft Europe will be attending Comic Expo this May 14-15 in Bristol, UK, and we’ll be showing off City of Heroes - including the brand new Issue #4: Colosseum!
Yes, mighty hero vs hero combat will be shaking the walls of the Ramada Plaza hotel for the entire weekend, as we face off with Expo-attenders - or anyone else who happens to wander by. Who knows? You may find yourself laying the smackdown on Bridger or Rockjaw, assuming they’re not cowering in a corner, talking about themselves in the third person.
Tickets for the Expo are on sale now, at the piffling price of £5 per day for Saturday or Sunday, or £10 for the whole weekend. Under 12s are free when accompanied by an adult, so bring the kids! You can book those tickets online, and get plenty more information on the Expo, by visiting the official Comic Expo site.

Roleplaying game publisher Eden Studios has confirmed in a press release that it’s working with Cryptic Studios and NCsoft to create a pencil and paper roleplaying game based on City of Heroes. City of Heroes Lead Designer Jack ‘Statesman’ Emmert comes from a traditional roleplaying background, and will be heavily involved in the development of the tabletop version. You can find out more, including details of the initial rule books and supplements planned for the game’s summer release, on Eden’s website.

Issue #4: Colosseum, the next feature update for City of Heroes, is drawing closer, and the guys from Gamespy recently got a chance to take a look at some of the new features - including the eagerly anticipated Arena, where heroes can pit their skill and powers against each other for the first time:
I was kind of blown away by the breadth of options available when setting up matches. You can opt for one-on-one matches, team battles, and even matches that pit entire supergroups against each other.
You can read more about the Arena - and Issue #4’s new costume options and body scaling features - in the full article.
