Ultimate Heroic Weekend at Omega Sektor: Post-Event Coverage

02 Apr, 2008

The Easter weekend saw hundreds of avid gamers attend the Omega Sektor MiniCon event in Birmingham – if you weren’t there, here’s what you missed!

Over the Easter weekend (Friday March 21st to Monday 24th), we travelled to Birmingham in the UK for a fun-packed weekend of gaming – especially City of Heroes gaming! The event was hosted by Omega Sektor, and with each of the over 350 PCs in constant use throughout the Saturday afternoon, it was easily the biggest City of Heroes event ever held in Europe.

Following on from the event there’s been some great coverage, including internet radio interviews, articles, videos and blog posts. For all the coverage and event highlights, read on…

Draw the World Together

imageThey’ve become a fixture at events that NCsoft Europe attends, and this one was no exception. A team of comic book artists representing Draw the World Together attended on Saturday and Sunday to sketch characters for a charitable donation to EveryChild. The artists in attendance for both days were Andrew Wildman, David Nakayama and Neil Edwards with a special guest appearance from Andie Tong on Saturday afternoon.

In our most successful charity weekend ever, approximately £3000 was raised! A massive thank you goes out to everyone who had a sketch drawn, bought something from the auction or otherwise donated!

Task Force: Omega

imageWe still don’t know what they were thinking, but 11 teams signed up to take part in the marathon Task Force: Omega challenge that started Friday evening and ran for 48 hours. Competitor teams aiming to complete the challenge needed to start with level 10-15 characters and progress through all six of the Task Forces required to obtain the Task Force Commander badge. With the Numina Task Force requiring a minimum level 35, this was not expected to be an easy task! Here are the official rules that governed the challenge.

Two teams achieved the goal late on Sunday. However, throughout the day teams and judges alike were kept on their toes as competition for the fastest completion time became increasingly tight between four determined teams. With the 8pm Sunday finishing time looming, two of the four teams elected to concede while the team of Commando Mirage from France and Belgium surged ahead to take victory. You can read the full official results in this forum thread.
