The Paragon Knights

Founder War Borg gives a rare interview…
Super Group Spotlight is a regular feature dedicated to taking a closer look at the many and varied Super Groups created by players of both City of Heroes and City of Villains.
If you’re the founder or current leader of a Super Group in either City of Heroes or City of Villains, and would like your SG to be considered for Super Group Spotlight, you can find all the details in Introducing: Supergroup Spotlight! on the official message boards.
Now, though, it’s time to learn more about our latest ‘spotlighted’ Supergroup, The Paragon Knights…
Transcript from a recent interview with War Borg of The Paragon Knights by Paragon’s favourite daytime chatshow host, Clarice.
Ladies and gentlemen, my next guest needs little introduction - there isn’t a home in Paragon City that doesn’t have something made or designed by the young entrepreneur’s successful company, StrongArm Tech. I give you Jack Armstrong, also known as The Legendary Indestructible War Borg!!!!
[Applause, cheers from the audience]
Thank you, it’s good to be on your show Clarice!
So, Jack, tell us about your Supergroup. What’s it called?
Well, with all the good work being done around Paragon City by various groups, I understand it may be a bit difficult to keep track. But you’ll have heard of The Paragon Knights. [Grins and relaxes into the sofa]
What’s your motto?
Currently, it’s “Knights Unite! Team up & clean up Paragon City”. I feel this encompasses our reasons for forming in the first place, but more importantly it sends a message out to our heroes to work together within the team and in all our endeavours. [Chuckles] Part of it has become our battle cry.
It’s common for groups of heroes to select a team uniform and emblem. How will our viewers know if they see a member of the Knights on patrol?
Being a bit of a patriot, I tried to stay true to the red, white and blue, which ties in nicely with my British ancestry without ‘t forgetting that I was born and raised here in the good ol’ US of A! Our primary colours are blue with red trim, but our new uniform squeezes the white in too! [Claps his hands together and looks proudly at the audience]
For our emblem, I tried to go with something that didn’t interfere to much with the colour scheme and looked Knight-like without being dated. The majestic Eagle seemed right - it’s the nation’s chosen mascot after all… [Smiles his famous half-smile]
Many of our viewers like to keep up to date with their favourite heroes and groups. Do the Knights have a website they can visit?
We have a The Paragon Knights website/forum. This plays an intricate part in the team dynamic and the planning and scheduling of the tasks set before our friendly Supergroup. It’s also a good place to joke and catch up when we’re not chasing down purse snatchers or dimensional warlords!
It’s http://s15.invisionfree.com/Paragon_Knights. I’m afraid that only members can post, though, Clarice. [Winks]
Did you form the group yourself? Which other heroes are involved in running the Knights?
As you know Clarice, my heroic alter-ego is none other than War Borg, and I founded The Paragon Knights and run them as best I can. I’m helped by my trusted Commanders, Lost Kheldian and Cyberwaste. There are also several others who play important roles and, of course, every member of the team plays their part.
Although fairly established now, in many ways we’re still growing. Most members are invited after having teamed up with us on some emergency we’re called to, but I’m willing to give most heroes a shot, no matter their Security Level. All ranks have the ability to invite those heroes with the potential to best serve the Knights - just ask any Paragon Knight you see.
We’ve also heard rumours of a new faction in the Rogue Isles, a group not unlike us - in fact some members are evil versions! They call themselves The Rogue Knights!
So how did The Paragon Knights get started?
Could I grab another drink before I continue.... Thanks.
After a brief tenure in a large but quiet Supergroup, I decided it would be more useful to go out and form my own. Using funding from my company, StrongArm Tech, I formed he Paragon Knights. The original team came about early in my career, predominantly during a somewhat hilarious and eventful fight with repeat offender Frostfire - the early PKs were pretty much born there and then. Since then, the PKs have changed roster several times, but we’ve gone from strength to strength and the staunch loyalty of many of our heroes has make us what we are today, Clarice.
And what are the overall goals of The Paragon Knights?
The aim of the PKs is to bring together heroes that are friendly, good to be around and work together as a team. We each share a responsibility to improve the quality of life in our fair city, although each hero has different reasons for doing so, I’m sure.
I like to think it provides the opportunity for assistance and knowledge and the group has been a lifeline for some of our heroes, myself included, when they can’t face down an adversary alone.
I know that many of our viewers are familiar with the concept of ‘supergroups’, but what does being a Paragon Knight actually involve? What do you actually do on a day to day basis?
How long is the show Clarice?!? [Throws his head back and laughs raucously] Seriously, though, we’re a pretty active group. Our heroes regularly help Paragon’s signature heroes by joining Task Forces when they need a job doing that only we can do. On occasion there is a need to face off with villains in contested areas like Bloody Bay, Siren’s Call and Warburg. To keep sharp, every so often we utilise our local Arenas to hone our skills against the more creative villains found in these parts of the City. The Knights readily help others, be it on missions or just learning more about our fine city through historical plaques and the like.
We also hold competitions for ourselves and our fellow heroes to let off steam and enjoy themselves. We’ve been in discussion recently about holding an olympics-style event between various Supergroups, so watch this space!
In between all that, we discussion and brainstorm in the ‘War’ room on our website, which has been the source of some great things for us. Ideas, suggestions and requests come from the whole team for our activities.
Hmm. What does it mean to be a Paragon Knight? Well, both myself and our other members have a ‘real life’ behind the mask - no one can fight crime 24/7. All I ask is that our heroes show up regularly and contribute. I’m a firm believer in ‘you reap what you sow’. If you don’t work towards the team goals and help one another, you’re on the wrong team. No free rides here, input is acknowledged and rewarded in The Paragon Knights.
What’s been your finest moment or greatest achievement so far?
Oooh, that’s gonna be a tough one, Clarice!
Our greatest achievement, in my opinion, is that we’ve gone from a one man team to over 50 strong and we’ve stayed the distance, through the hard times and the good. Some of our heroes are recognised for their leadership, humour and various other skills by other teams and independant heroes, and this sort of feedback is always good to hear.
With regards to our finest moment, one thing springs to mind straightaway. We have adopted the battle cry “Knights Unite!”, but our original roster developed an unofficial one. We’d been on missions and hunts and generally travelling through Paragon, but at each step, we were defeated for no good reason - none of us could seem to do anything right. Naturally, much hilarity ensued and the laughter meant we weren’t getting any better. After that, any silly mistake made resulted in the other members yelling “Go Team Lame-O!”
In fact, this lead to one of our later jaunts, Debt Day, where we ran missions and ensured we came away with maximum debt every time. Needless to say, badges were granted and various base options were opened up for us in no time at all! Another giggle-filled day that was… [Chuckles]
Speaking of bases, what kind of headquarters do The Paragon Knights have?
I’m ready for another drink now, would you mind? Please have one yourself Clarice, it’d be my pleasure… Not a problem, enjoy it. [Winks]
Well, StrongArm Tech deals with most of the construction, technology and application of items for our base, but we all work equally as hard for the advantages it provides - everyone pays towards it and so everyone gets out what they put in.
We have a functional base at present, we use it for our meetings and, when the occasion arises, just to chill out or chat. It has teleporters to all of Paragon’s hazard zones should we be needed urgently in those areas to resolve the threat of a rampaging Giant Monster or something similar. We have a functional medical bay, fully automated workshops and storage. It is modest at the moment, though, and we’re looking to expand again soon and get hold of some of the higher end equipment.
Finally, what are your Supergroup’s plans for the future?
Plans for the future, eh? Well, some day, when the time is right and a hero is both deserving and capable, I may share the responsibility of running the team. Who knows, The PKs may have to form specialist branches - for example, teams which are purely Security Levels 40-50 to deal with the larger scale threats, or maybe teams that specialise in the types of threats posed by villains found Bloody Bay, Siren’s Call or Warburg. And now, of course, we have Reluse’s Victory to contend with… We’ll certainly be busy.
Well, that’s pretty much all we have time for. I’d like to thank you for coming on the show today, and before you go, if there are any budding young heroes out there who might want to join The Paragon Knights, what should they do?
The Paragon Knights are happy to accept friendly, active and enthusiastic heroes with varying timescales. We’re looking for regularly active members who are friendly and want to make a difference. Please ask a Paragon Knight for an invite when you see one or send an in-game e-mail to War Borg or Lost Kheldian. Alternatively you could take a peek at our website!
Thanks for having me on the show, Clarice! [Stands, takes Clarice’s hand and gives her a peck on the cheek]
[Applause, cheers from the audience]
Transcript ends.

Do you have room for a Level 13 Controller - Gravity/Shield in your SG?
Posted by some loser on 20 Jan at 02:25
Wouldn’t it be wierd if someone made an SG made entirely out of lvl 1 begginers?
Posted by War Borg on 01 Feb at 23:48
Not as weird as you may think.... our SG and VG have been running an event where we each take a toon from lvl 1 and progress together at the same rate. =)
Posted by Firefighter Frank on 02 Feb at 14:47
@some loser: Impossible, ye have to be lvl 10 just to be able to register an Supergroup… if you would please direct your questions too http://www.paragonknights.tk (it’ll lead you to our forums)
@Shadow Sentinal: we’re always welcoming new members! send in an in-game e-mail to War Borg and I’m sure he’ll get you an invite to the Paragon Knights!

though it would be interesting, Some Loser, you must be at least level 10 before starting your own SG.
so NEARLY all lvl1s
SG Numbers are quite high at the moment, with new members coming in and out all the time. Keep sharp if you want to join and look out for any Paragon Knights in game.

I used to play COH at a friends house before I moved. I was a lvl 6 tanker with stone melee and rock armor. I called myself Ths Stone Warior. I think it sounds better without the in my name. Before that I was Silver Commander. I really miss playing Coh. Now Im just a crazy fan of the game.
Posted by War Borg on 18 Feb at 20:54
Hey there Captain V!
The Knights are on every day, try asking on the global channels or keep an eye for the names mentioned here.
I’d suggest Wed for sure as we’ve got an SG event on then
Posted by Lightning Man on 21 Feb at 20:37
Im getting COH soon and hope to join your SG guys. Is it a limit for how low level i have to be??

Posted by some loser on 22 Feb at 01:05
In my last message, I meant to put “the” in front of Stone Warior instead of ths
Posted by War Borg on 24 Feb at 11:15
No minimum level, any level is welcome. All we ask is you play and have some fun
Look forward to seeing you guys/gals in-game!
Posted by Firefighter Frank on 24 Feb at 16:25
@Lightning Man, you can be any level to join an SG the only SG LvL requirments is LvL 10 where you can then have the opportunity to create your own supergroup
@Some loser, I dont think “The” would really matter since “The” are usually titles if there just before the name.
Posted by Lightning Man on 26 Feb at 19:49
I dont know when i get it, but do you have any spesific costume colors?
Posted by War Borg on 28 Feb at 10:00
The SG colours are set as a dark blue and a dark red. The uniforms designed by the team are blue, red & white. The uniform is by no means ‘a must’, we did it for a bit of fun when teaming and is up to the player to decide if they want to wear one!

Lightning Man, we are on a server called Union its an EU server, like War said at the top
Posted by War Borg on 08 Apr at 14:16
We’re on the EU servers based on the Union, a predominantly English speaking server, although our SG has a range of folks from all over.
