Super Group Spotlight is a new feature dedicated to taking a closer look at the many and varied Super Groups created by players of both City of Heroes and City of Villains.

Founders: Black Empath/The-Fool and buzsaw2000/serrabellem

Origins: While playing my hero, Black Empath, I made a lot of friends and received many offers to join Super Groups. I didn’t like the idea of committing to one group, though - I didn’t want to disappoint anyone by joining one group but not another, nor did I like the idea of favouring teaming with some people over others. As a sort of joke, I kept count of the number of Super Group invites I received. By the time I was level 50, I had received 47 invites into different SGs. To celebrate my level 50, I created the 47 Ties Super Group as a tribute to all those friendly invites.

For fun, many people I knew (mostly those I made it to level 50 with) brought alts into the SG. We teamed together as we normally did but this time we were all in the same SG. I found that it was really nice having all these people I knew in the same group. Teaming together in the colours and with the Emblem showing. It was really nice. But when CoV came out most of the members left the 47 Ties to go support their main SGs. After going solo again for a while I realised that I really missed the SG teams. So I made it my new mission to start building up the 47 ties.

That was how the 47 Ties was made, but it didn’t really feel like a proper SG yet. Then buzsaw2000 joined up, and we started inviting others we found it fun to team with. Ever so slowly it started growing and expanding and it was only when the members starting showing SG pride and teaming together that the 47 Ties was a SG.

Goals: The only real goal is to have fun in an easy-going type of way. We want an SG that works well for any one’s interests. For example, there are people who like to spend most of their time chatting, dancing in Atlas or hanging out in the base, and those who like to focus on missions, badges, bases, TFs, Prestige and getting as much done as possible. We want an SG that accepts both forms of playing.

Activities: The SG has usually has something going on once a week - TFs, Trials, Missions and the like. We ask that member are in SG mode until they are level 25 to respect the members who want a nice base and a high ranking SG.

Finest Moments: I’m not sure we have one thing that sticks out more than the others. We have a lot of good times together, like completing Manticore TF - a lot of people had more fun than with normal TFs at that one - or many of the members helping to take down Lusca and the Paladin.

For myself, I would have to say it was one night where we had a full team of 8 SG members teaming up and doing missions. Nothing ‘legendary’ happened, it was just a lot of fun with the other SG members. Others mentioned they had fun as well, so I hope they support me in listing this as the greatest moment.

Base: Our base is more dedicated to looks than to functions. That is to say we built our meeting room and spent a lot of prestige making it look nice before making the functioning parts of the base, and we may chose to build a more expensive version of a room than is needed if it looks nicer.

This doesn’t mean that the SG base is lacking in function, though. It does have a workshop with work bench, salvage storage, and enhancement holdings. We have telepads for easy transportation through the zones. We also have all the power and control needed to have these things functioning. Our base is very open to change if the SG members would rather have the base built in another way. We have a place on our forums where members can discuss this topic.

Future Plans: Simply to continue to grow ever bigger and better. To keep teaming with each other and have fun!
