We’re pleased to announce that, after much deliberation and discussion, we’ve selected the winners of our ’Celebrate a Year of Heroism‘ competition, commemorating the first anniversary of the European launch of City of Heroes back in February.

So, who impressed us the most? Read on to find out…

English Community

The winner from the English-speaking community is Dawnrazor, who went to the effort to create an entire website dedicated to his first year of protecting Paragon City from the forces of evil.

Beginning with his experiences in the European Beta, the site includes details of each of his characters, a wide selection of screenshots and even a movie inspired by the game. Impressive stuff, and you can see it all at A Year of Heroism.

French Community

The winning entry from the French community is the creation of Yuri_Zexy. Her hand-drawn comic tells the story of how she and her partner first got into the game, and recounts some of their adventures so far. You can download the zipped PDF of ‘City of Heroes & Moi’ by clicking here.

German Community

‘Die Geschichte von MpX-BoneCrusher’ wins the German-speaking prize for its creator Bone. A visual presentation of the highlights of his first year in City of Heroes, the piece combines in-game shots, photos and text to celebrate the best that Paragon City has to offer. Honourable Mention

Although there were many excellent entries in addition to the winners, we felt we have to give a special mention to Fire_Guardian for his superb song, ‘Paragon City’. Not only is it a fantastic parody, it’s a genuinely funny song in its own right, and in recognitition of this, we’ve decided to award Fire_Guardian a special bonus prize of three month’s free subscription!
